Laura's faves: Picks and style advice from our Owner Laura Fitch

Laura Fitch opened Bedside Manor 27 years ago to bring fine linens and other home decor products to the Charlotte area. Since then, the showroom has been filled with the most gorgeous high-end bedding, towels, loungewear and gifts you'll find anywhere around.

But what's inside Laura's linen closet at home? And what trends does she predict will take off in the future? We asked her to tell us more about her personal style and linens she loves.

"My personal style is classic modern. I love to mix the old  with the new," Laura says. "A few special antiques blended gracefully with modern touches is a very appealing look to me."

In Laura's linen closet, you'll likely find Sferra's Giza 45 cotton sheet, made of the world's finest Egyptian cotton in the world. The cotton for these sheets is grown in the Nile River Valley before being woven in Italy by Sferra's master craftsmen. The silky-soft fabric is light, yet durable, and comes in a variety of colors and styles including Lace and Quatrefoil.

Laura also loves the Legna Classic sheet made by SDH. These 100-percent wood fiber sheets are woven in Italy to SDH's stringent standards. They feature the smooth and supple feel of silk combined with the easy care of cotton.

As for towels, you'll find her bathroom stocked with Yves Delorme's Etoile, a classic yet elegant terry towel handcrafted from a blend of luxurious long-staple cotton and natural modal. Extremely soft yet durable, the Etoile collection dries faster than pure cotton towels and features a unique star pattern on its dobby detail.

Laura's other current favorite towel is Lotus by Matouk —the densest, most plush towel in Matouk's line. Lotus features low-twist yarns that not only get softer and fluffier with each wash, but are also high-performing and very absorbent.

For spring and summer, Laura's go-to products are lightweight yet cozy.

Her bed is currently layered with Scandia's Vienna down comforter, filled with 750 fill-power pure Polish white goose down and enveloped in Scandia crest-patterned cotton batiste from one of Germany's finest mills. Handcrafted in the United States, accompanied by a certificate of authenticity and service for a lifetime, the Vienna comforter is utterly exquisite.

Or she might switch things up by layering a lightweight coverlet with a silk comforter like this one from Silk Story, which absorbs moisture, helping you stay cool and dry. Silk also naturally repels bugs and dust mites and helps prevent allergies and asthma attacks.

"I love to layer my bed," Laura says. "I always start out needing several layers and by morning I’m usually left with just my sheet!"

Her favorite sheets for summer? Anything linen. Find out our picks for linen sheets here!

When it comes to summer towels, her favorite is the Aura towel by Grazcioza.

"It’s incredibly soft and lightweight, and it dries quickly — the perfect summer towel," Laura says.

What trends is Laura seeing for 2021 and beyond?

"The biggest change we have seen in 2021 is the desire for color!" she says. "We have had a huge run on prints! I think people just want to bring a little color back into their lives. Covid has been incredibly difficult for so many of us and people just want to pamper themselves and feel happy again!"

And luckily we have droves of prints for every style, color and budget. Check out our post on prints here.
